Facilitation

The right conversation, in the right room, with
the right person holding the space.

Some conversations are too important to leave to chance. A strategy away day where the real issues never surface. A leadership team meeting that goes round in circles. A workshop that generates lots of Post-it notes and very little change.

The difference between a conversation that moves things forward and one that doesn't is rarely the people in the room. It's the quality of the facilitation.

We design and facilitate high-stakes conversations for leadership teams, boards, and organisations navigating complexity — creating the conditions for honest dialogue, meaningful decisions, and outcomes that actually stick.

What we facilitate

Where we work.

Leadership team away days and offsites Designing and facilitating the conversations that leadership teams need to have but rarely make space for — strategic direction, team dynamics, ways of working, and the harder questions about culture and performance. We help leadership teams leave the room with clarity, alignment, and a plan they've actually bought into.

Board conversations and governance sessions Facilitating board-level discussions that require an impartial, experienced hand — whether that's a strategic review, a culture conversation, or a session designed to improve how the board itself works together.

Organisational workshops and town halls Designing and facilitating large-group sessions that need to be more than a presentation — where genuine dialogue, honest feedback, and meaningful participation matter. We create formats that give everyone a voice, not just the loudest people in the room.

Critical meetings and decision-making sessions Sometimes a specific meeting is too important to facilitate internally — when the stakes are high, the dynamics are complex, or an independent perspective is needed to keep the conversation productive and impartial.

Team development workshops Expert facilitation of team sessions focused on trust, conflict, communication, and performance — either as standalone workshops from our catalogue or as part of a broader team development programme.

Why external facilitation

Why bring in an external facilitator?

When the person leading the meeting is also a stakeholder in the outcome, something gets lost. They're managing their own agenda whilst trying to manage the room. They're listening for what they want to hear as much as what's actually being said. And the people in the room know it.

An external facilitator has no stake in the outcome beyond making the conversation as productive as possible. That independence changes everything — it creates safety for people to say what they actually think, and accountability for the group to do something with it.

We bring warmth, directness, and significant experience of facilitating complex conversations in organisations where the dynamics are rarely simple. We will ask the question nobody else has asked. We will notice what's happening in the room and name it. And we will keep the conversation moving in a direction that serves the group, not just the most senior person in it.

What to expect

Every facilitated session starts well before the day itself. We invest time upfront to understand the context, the people, the dynamics, and what success looks like — so that what happens in the room is designed rather than improvised.

This typically includes:

  • A scoping conversation with the commissioning leader or HR Director to understand goals, context, and any sensitivities

  • Individual pre-conversations with key participants where helpful

  • A detailed session design shared in advance for review and input

  • Expert facilitation on the day, with flexibility to adapt as the conversation develops

  • A post-session summary of key themes, decisions, and agreed actions where appropriate

Have a conversation that matters coming up?

Tell us what you're trying to achieve and we'll tell you honestly whether and how we can help — and what the right design for the session might look like.

“Kate’s value as a facilitator is that she encourages people to join conversations they might otherwise have opted out of, and is great at producing an environment where board members feel able to share their views and experiences to create better outcomes”

Rt Hon David Heath CBE, Lay NED and Chair, CLSB
